DESCRIPTION & HISTORY

organic and fair trade

Who or what is the most impressive thing in the history of Latin America? The spontaneous answer would be: Machu Picchu, the impressive Inca city built at an altitude of 2430 meters … and yes, of course that’s true, but we’ll tell you: there are more fascinating and impressive things in Peru! Among connoisseurs, Peruvian coffee beans are extremely sought after and highly sought after. No wonder, because they are varied, digestible and aromatic. … a coffee secret for connoisseurs 😉

Around 90% of Peruvian coffee comes from small farms, of which there are around 120,000. It is mainly Arabica that is grown and then harvested from May to September. The large number of Fairtrade cooperatives makes Peru the number one exporter of organic coffee.

Being a coffee farmer in Peru has never been easy: the air is thin, the landscape mountainous and rugged, coffee cultivation difficult. That is why the smallholders have joined forces to form powerful cooperatives. Thus, coffee is produced on a small scale, but with special flavors and high quality. Peruvian coffee farmers have to work hard to get the perfect bean. So not only are their coffee beans exceptionally low in acidity and spicy in flavor, but they are also grown according to organic, sustainable standards.
